Beginners

This page is dedicated to those who are just learning to program.   We want to help you get started.  We suggest you begin by checking out our educational YouTube videos on our Education Page.  They assume you have no programming experience, so throw away your fears and jump right in. After viewing the videos you may feel ready to proceed on your own.  If so, the RobotBASIC HELP FILE may be all you need.

We also have created a short PDF TUTORIAL that can be especially helpful for those new to RobotBASIC or even those new to programming.

If you would like more help, we recommend our two beginner's books for learning programming fundamentals. Both books assume no programming experience.  They start slow to keep things unintimidating, but as you gain knowledge they introduce concepts and principles that will help you grow as a programmer and prepare you for more complex books such as our Robot Programmer's Bonanza.

The two beginner's books have some minor projects in common and they do cover the same programming principles. They are totally different though, in the projects that are used to teach programming.

RobotBASIC Projects for Beginners is packed with interesting projects involving graphics and animation (you even write your own video game and a paint program) that make learning fun.

Robot's in the Classroom utilizes a similar approach, but most of the projects involve learning how to program a robot.  No hardware is required, as everything can be accomplished using the RobotBASIC simulaor.  Everything you learn can be applied to real robots.

We think these books are perfect for self-study or for use in almost any introductory programming class.  They also make a great gift to get your children and/or grandchildren interested in programming.

If there are things you, as a beginning programmer, need to help you learn, please let us know.  We will try to add appropriate tutorials, new books, etc. as necessary.  For now, here is more information about our introductory books.
